Recap
Tiny, clean 1ft waves to kick of the weekend, while our better W/SW groundswell for yesterday came in at 2ft through the morning but with lumpy conditions under a W'ly wind.
Today the surf is cleaner with easing surf from 2ft on the sets.
This week and weekend (July 20 - 25)
The least consistent and smallest of the W/SW swells has filled in and is now on the ease, but we should see a better bigger and more prolonged swell filling in tomorrow, easing slowly Wednesday.
The source of this swell was a healthy polar low on the weekend, which is now weakening south-west of us. We've also now got favourable N/NW winds due to hold until about midday tomorrow ahead of a strong S/SW change.
Size wise, the swell should be in the water overnight tonight, with 3ft sets due across Clifton, easing from a similar size Wednesday. Winds should swing back to the NW on Wednesday morning, shifting back to the W/NW through the afternoon.
Thursday looks smaller and back to 2ft along with N/NW tending variable winds.
A fun, reinforcing W/SW swell is expected on Thursday afternoon and Friday from broad, though not overly strong W'ly winds moving through our western swell window tomorrow and Wednesday. An additional small low firing up Thursday will also help add to the size with Clifton expected to come in 2-3ft Friday.
Winds will remain offshore Friday from the N-N/NE, similar Saturday as the swell eases.
Longer term the storm track will really fire up towards Western Australia into next week, too far north to be beneficial for us. It looks like we'll see inconsistent W/SW groundswell energy impacting us from this activity, but more on this Wednesday.
