Recap

Fun waves over the weekend, but today the swell has faded leaving tiny conditions, ideal for beginners.

This week and weekend (May 25 - 30)

Our inconsistent W/SW groundswell for tomorrow is on track, but keep your expectations low regarding size and frequency. The swell was generated by a strong though distant polar low that was initially nicely in our swell window before pushing north into Western Australia.

Inconsistent 2ft sets are due from this source tomorrow with strong N/NE winds as the remnants of the low pushes east through the Bight.

The swell will fade Wednesday and winds will shift from a light NW'ly to a strong SW'ly as the mid-latitude low pushes east across us.

We're now due to see some decent swell energy from the backside of the low and a polar front it'll drag up behind it, with a fetch of strong to gale-force W/SW winds moving under us Wednesday evening, followed by strengthening SW tending S/SW winds Thursday as a low forms in the Tasman Sea.

Initially a fun W/SW swell is due Thursday, coming in at 2-3ft across Clifton, possibly increasing a little further late in the day, with S/SW swell energy Friday to 4ft.

Winds will shift onshore though with a strong W/NW tending W/SW breeze on Thursday, strong SW Friday, persisting from the S/SW Saturday as the swell eases.

Longer term we may see some SE groundswell from the base of the low in the Tasman Sea on Sunday, but besides this the outlook is quiet. More on this Wednesday.

I’m heading there in December. Should be interesting. At least there will be banks.
