Recap
Tiny, clean surf yesterday, increasing a touch today for the desperate.
This week and weekend (Apr 3 - 9)
Tiny, clean surf will continue tomorrow but into Sunday we'll see the energy starting to pick up across the state as swell front a strengthening frontal progression starts to fill in.
This progression will develop this evening, with a great fetch of elongated strong to gale-force W'ly winds due to move in tomorrow, passing under us through the evening. After weakening the forecast strength a little through the week, we've got a slight upgrade today and we should see a good pulse of size through Sunday, building to 2-3ft, but a better, trailing fetch pushing in through the day Sunday should generate a better pulse to 3ft+ through Monday.
The easing trend will then be softened by weaker, trailing frontal activity that will be a bit more patchy and less favourably aligned.
Size wise, easing 2-3ft sets are due Tuesday with surf back to 2ft on Wednesday.
Looking at the local winds and they look great with a W/NW tending fresher W breeze on Sunday, N/NW Monday ahead of variable/weak sea breezes. Tuesday looks similar with Wednesday seeing N/NE tending E/NE winds.
Longer term the models are still struggling a little on the outlook for the weekend and beyond with tropical activity to our north and polar fronts on the shelf. It looks like we'll see some form of swell kicking again late next weekend, but more on this in the coming updates. Have a Happy and Safe Easter!
