Recap

The surf kicked through yesterday but conditions were average with an onshore breeze, while today we’ve got cleaner surf and fun 1-2ft sets for the keen.

This week and weekend (Feb 3 - 7)

The mix of swells seen yesterday and today will ease tomorrow, bottoming out along with strengthening E/NE winds, lighter at dawn.

Our new W/SW groundswell for Friday is on track, with satellite observations picking up a great fetch of severe-gale to storm-force winds, south-west of WA. The low linked to the swell is now weakening while pushing east, with the swell likely to kick late tomorrow but peak Friday to 2-3ft across Clifton, easing through the day.

Winds will be an issue though, strengthening from the NE, so selected spots will be the pick, away from Clifton.

Saturday looks clean most of the day ahead of a late change, with the swell easing back from 1-2ft through the day.

A stronger change on Sunday will be linked to a mid-latitude low pushing in from the west, with a fetch of strong S/SW winds being projected up into us briefly, kicking up some localised windswell late Sunday, easing Monday.

Size wise sets look to come in at 2-3ft, but winds look a little suspect, strong SW on Sunday and W/SW tending SW Monday. Check back here on Friday for any change to Monday morning’s winds.

Following this there’s nothing major on the cards with easing swells under N/NE winds, but see you back here Friday.
