Improvement in the wind outlook with fun swells
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 7th August)
Best Days: Saturday, Sunday morning, Monday morning, Tuesday morning, Thursday
Recap
Poor conditions yesterday with a strong onshore wind, a touch cleaner early this morning with a new building SW groundswell. Conditions have since deteriorated this afternoon when the peak in size is expected.
This weekend and next week (Aug 8 - 14)
Tomorrow morning looks better across the South Arm with the wind due to become variable along with today's easing S/SW groundswell from 2-3ft across Clifton.
Sunday morning is now looking cleaner as well with a morning W/NW breeze, shifting S'ly through the day as a new inconsistent SW groundswell builds.
While inconsistent, the polar frontal system generating this was healthy and we should see building sets to an inconsistent 2-3ft across Clifton through the afternoon, easing from 2ft to possibly 3ft on Monday.
The strengthening polar front forecast for the weekend south of us is now weaker but we'll still see weaker frontal activity through our swell window, easing from 1-2ft Tuesday.
With the weakening of this polar system winds look more favourable for early next week, light N/NW on Monday, tending SE through the day, similar Tuesday.
Into Thursday a fun pulse of new S/SW swell is on the cards as the tail of the polar frontal progression moving through our swell window strengthens south of us Monday evening and Tuesday.
A fun kick in size is expected to 2-3ft across Clifton Thursday morning, possibly showing late Wednesday, and with freshening N tending NE winds. More on this Monday though. Have a great weekend!
