Fading swell and then tiny
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 30th August)
Best Days: Saturday, Sunday morning beginners, later next week
Recap
A good mid-period SW swell to the 3ft range yesterday morning ahead of a stronger increase in SW groundswell through the afternoon, more S/SW today and to 3ft with great winds. This swell showed up well on the new Cape Sorell wave spectrum, with it explained in more detail here.
The swell will ease through the day as winds tend to the E/NE.

This weekend and next week (Aug 31 – Sep 6)
The surf will continue to ease into the weekend with 2ft+ waves on offer tomorrow morning with an all day offshore N/NW wind.
Sunday will be clean again but tiny and best for beginners.
From here on we'll be looking at a tiny run of surf through early-mid next week as the storm track pushes north and out of our swell window, across Western Australia.
Later in the week we may see a stronger and elongated polar frontal progression developing south-west of us, generating some good S/SW groundswell for next Friday/Saturday, but we'll have to review this again on Monday. Have a great weekend!
