This week and weekend (Jan 12 - 18)
Long-period for-runners associated with tomorrow morning's flukey W/SW groundswell have hit Cape Sorell and there's also been an increase in size so we may see sets showing later today but with sea breezes.
This swell was generated by a poorly aligned but strong storm in our far swell window south-west of WA late last week and Saturday.
Size wise we'll hopefully see 1-1.5ft sets tomorrow morning across Clifton, easing through the day and tiny into Wednesday.
Winds will be good tomorrow morning with a N/NW offshore ahead of S/SE sea breezes.
Wednesday then looks average with an onshore change moving through at dawn.
Unfortunately the rest of the week looks average with nothing of size due across Clifton. A tiny W'ly swell Thursday will likely provide 1ft sets for beginners, and a variable morning breeze should hopefully create clean conditions.
Into the weekend, a strengthening front is expected to kick up a tiny weak increase in windswell through the afternoon but with poor winds, cleaner and gone by Sunday.
Longer term a very inconsistent W/SW groundswell is likely Tuesday, with a strong though tight storm forming in our far swell window near Heard Island but moving closer towards us while weakening later this week and into the weekend. More on this Wednesday though.
