More size is expected this afternoon to 2-3ft on the sets but conditions will be quite messy with a S'ly onshore.

This week and weekend (Jan 3 - 6)
Today's building W/SW swell will tend more SW and peak in size tomorrow morning, with the strong and broad frontal progression linked to it currently passing under us.
Good 3ft waves are due off Clifton, easing through the afternoon and a light N/NW breeze is expected to freshen from the NE through the day, creating shifting options as the swell eases.
Friday looks minimal with 1-2ft leftovers and all day offshore N/NW tending W/NW winds.
The weekend's W'ly swell is looking a touch better than it was on Monday, with a strong and slow moving mid-latitude low due to maintain a bit of strength while dipping east-southeast through our swell window.
A fetch of strong W'ly winds should be produced, with a small kick to 1-2ft likely through the day Saturday with a morning NW offshore ahead of SE sea breezes.
Sunday will be tiny and and an onshore change will bring poor conditions in any case.
Our stronger long-period SW groundswell for early next week is still on track, with a strong low due to form on the polar shelf, generating a fetch of gale to severe-gale W/SW winds while projecting slowly east.
The swell should arrive overnight Monday and peak Tuesday morning to 3ft with a N/NW offshore. Beyond this weaker polar fronts look to generate smaller levels of W/SW swell, but more on this Friday.
