This weekend and next week (Nov 3 - 9)
Today is the calm before the storm.
Currently a vigorous and broad storm is approaching from the west, with a good fetch of W/SW gales being generated in our western swell window, but we'll see stronger severe-gale W/SW winds projected right up and into us this afternoon and evening, passing under us slowly tomorrow.
A large windy and long-period W/SW groundswell will be generated, with mid-period though strengthening energy due to build through tomorrow morning, from 2-3ft early tomorrow to a solid 4-6ft by later in the afternoon/early evening as the groundswell fills in.
The swell is due to peak overnight and then ease back through Sunday though it'll still be large and around 4-6ft, dropping quickly into the afternoon back to 3ft or so and down to a smaller 2ft or so on Monday.
Winds tomorrow will be an issue and strong from the W-W/SW most of the day, while Sunday looks great with a morning N/NW offshore, tending W/NW through the day.
Monday will also be great with a N/NW offshore, tending variable if not for weak sea breezes.
Our strong new reinforcing W/SW groundswell for Tuesday is still on track, with a very intense polar low due to develop south-west of WA this evening, generating a fetch of severe-gale to storm-force W/SW winds through our western swell window over the weekend, breaking down south-west of us Sunday evening.
We'll see a moderate sized long-period W/SW groundswell arriving overnight Monday and peaking Tuesday to 3-4ft+ across Clifton and with an early W/NW-NW offshore ahead of sea breezes.
The swell is then due to ease off slowly into the end of the week, but we'll have another look at this Monday. Have a great weekend!
