Recap

Clean fun waves dropping back from 2ft yesterday morning, though today we should be seeing a good new SW groundswell on the build, reaching 3ft this afternoon but with sea breezes.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This week and weekend (Nov 1 - 4)

This afternoon's increase in SW groundswell will ease through tomorrow from a fun 2-3ft and morning N/NW winds will shift NE into the afternoon opening up fun options as the swell continues to ease.

Friday looks small to tiny with clean conditions all day, ideal for beginners.

Our large groundswell for the weekend has been upgraded with another strong swell to follow up into next week.

All this activity will be due to a strong node of Long Wave Trough developing across the Bight and moving slowly east through the weekend and early next week.

Firstly the weekend's swell will be generated by a strong polar front projecting up towards WA, north of our swell window before pushing east and slipping south.

A broadening fetch of W/SW gales will be generated in our western swell window but we're now expected to see core storm-force W/SW winds projected straight into us Friday afternoon through Saturday.

This will generate a large long-period W/SW groundswell that will kick later in the day Saturday, though peak early Sunday morning.

Ahead of this mid-period energy will build Saturday from a small 2ft or so, reaching a stormy 4-5ft+ later in the day with strong to gale-force W-W/SW winds.

Sunday morning should reveal solid 5-6ft sets across Clifton, easing during the day with an all day though stiff offshore W/NW breeze, smaller Monday.

A secondary good pulse of moderate sized W/SW groundswell is due on Tuesday, generated by a polar low forming south-west of WA, projecting a fetch of severe-gale to storm-force W/SW winds towards us through the weekend, weakening while continuing east early next week.

We'll have a closer look at the size expected off this swell on Friday.
