This week and weekend (Aug 25 – 31)
The weekend will see a continuation of background W/SW groundswell in that 1-2ft range, but our better pulse of SW swell for tomorrow morning is still on track with a good fetch of polar W/SW gales forming south-west of us last night.
The fetch was fast moving, but satellite observations have picked up a couple of storm-force barbs and with this we should see good 3ft sets across Clifton with a NW offshore tending variable breeze.
Sunday looks smaller and back to 2ft with similar winds, giving into a SW change late afternoon as the polar front proper pushes across us. The swell should ease Tuesday with S'ly winds persisting on the coast.
The front bringing the onshore change is due to form into a deep and powerful low, south-east of us and with this we'll see some new SE swell mid-late next week.
Winds are a little dicey and onshore during the early stages of the swell but will improve on the backside of the event, though we'll have to review this on Monday. Have a great weekend!
