Recap
A good pulse of SW groundswell on Saturday to 3ft with offshore winds, back to a much smaller 1-2ft yesterday.
Today a new W/SW swell has come in at 2ft with clean conditions, and winds this afternoon aren't too bad. A further increase in size should have been seen this afternoon to 3ft from a strong front passing under us.

This week and weekend (Apr 3 - 8)
The swell that's on the build this afternoon is expected to peak overnight and ease back tomorrow from 2ft to possibly 3ft with a morning NW wind, swinging W/NW through the day.
Another weaker fetch of strong to gale-force W/NW winds moving in from the west this evening and tomorrow should generate a new W/SW swell for Wednesday, building through the afternoon to 2ft+, easing from a similar size Thursday morning.
Winds will be great again Wednesday morning and from the NW, tending onshore into the afternoon, NW tending W/NW on Thursday.
We'll continue to see weaker fronts push through our western swell window keeping 2ft sets hitting Clifton into Friday with less favourable winds (W/NW early) and offshore from the N'th Saturday.
The W/SW swell energy should fade into Sunday but some sneaky S/SE groundswell is expected from a polar fetch of S/SE gales south of New Zealand Wednesday afternoon through Thursday.
This should produce a good S/SE groundswell pulse for later Saturday and more so Sunday to 2ft+ across Clifton, 3ft at exposed breaks to south-east energy.
Winds will swing from NW to SW through the day, so the morning surf will be the go.
The swell will fade through Monday and there's nothing significant due until later in the week. More on this Thursday.
