Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 24th January)

Best Days: Exposed breaks tomorrow, Friday morning, beginners Saturday

Recap

A drop in swell back to 1-2ft on the sets yesterday morning with good conditions, while a new W/SW swell expected for today was only reported at 2ft, under the expected 2ft to occasionally 3ft.

Cape Sorell is still strong, so we should be seeing 3ft sets now, though with sea breezes.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This week and weekend (Jan 25 - 28)

This afternoon's increase in W/SW groundswell should start to ease through tomorrow, but a weak secondary mid-latitude front that's currently passing under us should keep 2ft sets hitting Clifton through tomorrow before easing back from 1-2ft on Friday morning.

Winds will be less than ideal tomorrow with an E/NE tending fresh NE breeze, while Friday should see NW offshores ahead of SE sea breezes.

The surf will fade through the weekend with tiny beginners waves on Saturday, near flat Sunday.

Longer term there's nothing significant due early-mid next week with some possible swell later week from activity to our south-west, but more on this Friday.
