Strong new swell for Friday, fading into the weekend
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 8th November)
Best Days: Thursday morning, Friday morning, Saturday morning, Sunday morning for beginners
Recap
A solid kick in size yesterday, but with SW winds, protected spots were the only real options for a decent wave.
Today the swell cleaned up across more exposed breaks and was still coming in at a solid 3-4ft.
This week and weekend (Nov 9 - 12)
A temporary low point in swell is expected tomorrow morning, but we should still see waves to 2ft under an early offshore wind.
A strong polar front that's currently south-west of us is generating a great fetch of W/SW gales under us while continuing east.
A strong SW groundswell will be generated by this system kicking later tomorrow though with onshore winds, peaking Friday morning to 3ft+ across Clifton.
Variable winds are due through the morning ahead of SE sea breezes with a light NW breeze Saturday morning as the swell eases back from 2ft+.
Sunday will likely see the swell become tiny, back to 1-1.5ft and from here, there's nothing major on the cards at all for next week at this stage. We'll have another look at this Friday, but in the meantime make the most of the current swells.
