Small west swell tomorrow, tiny until Wednesday
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 14th July)
Best Days: Saturday, Wednesday afternoon
Recap
Tiny waves yesterday, while today a very inconsistent W/SW groundswell lifted wave heights slightly to the 1-1.5ft range.
This weekend and next week (Jul 15 - 21)
With today's first inconsistent W/SW groundswell coming in at 1-1.5ft, a touch under the expected 1-2ft, tomorrow's slightly dicier and more W'ly swell will likely come in around a similar size.
Hopefully we'll see the odd 2ft set, and conditions are looking clean for most of the day now with a peristent W/NW'ly.
Come Sunday tiny easing waves are expected with a persistent N/NW wind.
The surf will remain tiny into early next week before the mid-latitude low mentioned last update moves in from the west on Wednesday.
This low is forecast to move across us Wednesday and with this we'll see a fetch of strong to gale-force S'ly winds projected up into the South Arm, kicking up a S'ly swell to 2-3ft or so.
The broad low will actually have a couple of embedded lows, and one of these will hook up around to our west through Wednesday, cutting off the infeed of S'ly winds and swinging winds back offshore.
This will limit the size generated, and a secondary stronger burst of S/SW gales will sit too far west and out of our swell window at this stage. We'll have a closer look at this on Monday as the models are still moving around a little. Have a great weekend!
