Tiny weekend, fun swell mid-week
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 8th March)
Best Days: Later Tuesday, Wednesday
Recap
A tiny start to yesterday morning, but a little swell pulsed through the day, easing back into this morning.
This weekend and next week (Mar 11 - 17)
The coming period isn't looking too productive with tiny surf due over the weekend, kicking a little later Sunday and Monday morning to 1-1.5ft but with average E'ly winds feeding around a low in the Tasman Sea.
This low has generated a large E'ly groundswell for the North East coast, so it's probably worth a read of the forecast notes for that region regarding a wave over the coming period.
Wednesday's swell is still on track, with an intense polar low currently forming around the Heard Island region, with a fetch of severe-gale to storm-force W/NW-W winds being aimed through our far western swell window.
This low will weaken while approaching us over the weekend, with the groundswell due to arrive later Tuesday, pulsing to 2ft on the sets, easing back from 2ft Wednesday morning.
Average E/NE winds are due Tuesday afternoon and evening, with better N/NE winds Wednesday morning.
Longer term there's nothing significant at all as a series of strong storms target WA, too north for us. Check back Monday for further updates though and have a great weekend!
