Strong swell kicking Friday afternoon, clean and easing Saturday
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 1st March)
Best Days: Saturday morning, Tuesday morning
Recap
A good pulse of swell through yesterday, while today it was back to tiny conditions with a funky light onshore.
This week and weekend (Mar 2 - 5)
Tiny surf is expected tomorrow, while Friday's strong kick in SW groundswell is still on track.
During this afternoon and evening a vigorous polar low will form in our south-western swell window, producing a fetch of gale to severe-gale W/SW winds.
Early Friday is expected to be tiny, but a strong kick to 3ft is expected through the afternoon/evening, peaking overnight and easing from 2ft to maybe 3ft early Saturday.
Winds on Friday are still due to be onshore and from the S/SW tending S/SE, with a light offshore Saturday morning before sea breezes kick in.
Sunday morning should be clean again but the surf tiny.
Next week onwards (Mar 6 onwards)
A small pulse of new SW swell is expected to build through Monday, generated by a good flurry of frontal activity dipping south-east and through our swell window from the Indian Ocean.
A good increase to 2ft is expected through the day, easing back from 1-2ft Tuesday. Conditions on Monday are looking average with a SE'ly, cleaner with N/NE winds on Tuesday.
Longer term there's a couple of smaller swells on the cards through the week, but more on this Friday.
