Fading S'ly swell, strong swell for the weekend
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 21st November)
Best Days: Early Tuesday, early Friday morning, Sunday
Recap
A good weekend of waves with strong new SW swell building through Saturday with offshore winds, while Sunday saw the swell hanging in, easing through the day ahead of a late kick in strong new S'ly groundswell.
This has peaked this morning with clean 3ft+ sets on the South Arm with offshore tending variable winds.
This week and weekend (Nov 22 - 27)
We'll see today's S'ly swell fade pretty quickly overnight, and tomorrow morning we'll be lucky to see 1-2ft sets with an early W/NW breeze.
A small intense low forming under us early tomorrow will move off to the east too rapidly to generate any decent swell for us with tiny waves due through most of the week around 1ft or so.
From Friday we'll see a strong and strengthening polar frontal progression pushing up and into us, with an initial fetch of strong W/SW winds being followed by W/SW tending SW gales Friday afternoon and evening.
This should produce an initial increase in W/SW swell Friday to 2ft followed by a much better increase in size Saturday to a solid 3-4ft+ but with W/SW to SW winds.
Sunday should be cleaner as the swell drops with an early W/NW breeze.
Longer term it looks like we'll see some decent swells into early next week as well, but more on this Wednesday.
