Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 14th December)

Best Days: Beginners Tuesday morning, Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning

Recap

A decent kick in size to 2ft across Clifton Saturday but with poor winds, cleaner into Sunday but tiny and only 1ft or so. Today a similar clean 1ft wave was breaking ideal for beginners and groms.

This week and weekend (Dec 15 - 18)

Unfortunately there's nothing significant at all on the cards for this week with fading tiny 1ft waves tomorrow, almost flat through Wednesday ahead of a very minimal kick Thursday possibly to 1ft again.

An inconsistent W/SW groundswell for Friday to 1ft is due, generated by a broad and relatively weak polar low south-west of WA. This will be with light offshore winds through the morning ahead of afternoon sea breezes.

Longer term we may see a slightly bigger W/SW groundswell for early next week from an intense but unfavourably positioned mid-latitude low forming in the Bight over the weekend.

We'll have a closer look at this on Wednesday though.
