Southerly swell pulses over the coming days
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 2nd Novemer)
Best Days: Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning
Recap
Small clean 1-2ft waves through Saturday before becoming tiny through Sunday, ideal for beginners. Today was poor with tiny 1ft waves continuing as a weak SW change created bumpy and sloppy conditions.
This week (Nov 3 - 6)
Tomorrow's pulse of S/SW groundswell is still on track, but the size looks to be downgraded a touch further from what we were expecting on Friday. We're now looking at 2-3ft waves across Clifton and winds should be OK, tending variable through the morning and then E/SE into the afternoon.
A secondary pulse of S'ly swell off the back of the low generating tomorrow's S/SW swell is due Wednesday morning, keeping 2ft+ waves hitting Clifton as morning N'ly winds strengthen from the N/NE.
Come Thursday there's not much expected to be left with strong N/NE winds continuing.
Later in the day Thursday and more so Friday a better SW groundswell pulse is due from a nice looking polar low firing up under WA tomorrow and Wednesday. A fetch of W/SW gales will be aimed through our swell window before it pushes closer and weakens, producing a fun pulse for Friday, kicking to 2ft+ through the day (smaller early). Winds are unfortunately looking dicey with a fresh W/SW change due through around 8am in the morning, spoiling the swell into the afternoon.
This weekend onwards (Nov 7 onwards)
Fresh S'ly winds are due to continue through Saturday but with a building S'ly windswell, associated with a weakening low moving across us. Only 2ft or so of swell is due through the day, fading Sunday.
Into Monday a very inconsistent W/SW groundswell is due across Clifton, probably to 1-2ft or so. This is forecast to be generated by a vigorous polar low firing up to the south-west of WA, aiming a fetch of storm-force W'ly winds through our far swell window. Due to the low weakening before nearing us only limited size is expected. We'll have a closer look at this on Wednesday though.
