Small swells with variable winds.
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 4th September)
Best Days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday morning, Thursday, Friday
Recap
Tiny waves through yesterday with onshore winds, while today a small kick in swell to 1-2ft was seen with offshore winds.
This weekend and next week (Sep 5 – 11)
Tomorrow's kick in W/SW groundswell to 2-3ft through the day is still on track, but so are the associated onshore winds.
A front pushing under us today will then leave lingering and fresh to strong S/SW tending weaker S/SE winds.
Sunday will be cleaner with an easing S'ly swell from the 2ft range under N/NW tending N/NE winds.
Monday's inconsistent long-range W/SW groundswell is due to come in at a very infrequent 1-2ft through the day and winds will be favourable and offshore from the N/NW.
Tuesday should see the swell ease from 1-2ft, and a small weak front pushing across is should kick up a tiny weak windswell but to no decent size. This will also produce fresh W/SW tending W/NW winds.
Through the second half of the week some small background groundswell energy is due from a strong pre-frontal fetch of W/NW gales pushing in from the west mid-week and then a trailing fetch of strong W/SW winds along the shelf.
These swells only look to keep inconsistent 2ft sets hitting the coast through Thursday and Friday with favourable winds before tailing off into the weekend.
We'll have a closer look at this Monday though. Have a great weekend!
