Fun Tuesday, smaller for the rest of the week
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 30th March)
Best Days: Tuesday, Wednesday morning, Saturday morning, Sunday morning, Monday morning
Recap
Improving conditions with a new SW groundswell to 2ft during Saturday morning as early winds swing NW before early afternoon sea breezes kick in. Sunday was smaller but crisp and clean with moderate to fresh offshore NW winds through the morning.
Today a new W/SW groundswell has only come in at 1-2ft across Clifton but conditions have been favourable all day with a NW tending W/NW breeze.
This week (Mar 31 – Apr 3)
A secondary pulse of W/SW groundswell due tomorrow has unfortunately been downgraded a touch, with the secondary frontal system that was expected to generate the swell yesterday, coming in weaker than forecast by the weather models on Friday.
Still, a good fetch of gales were generated on an existing sea state linked to today's swell, with inconsistent but fun 2ft to hopefully 3ft waves due across Clifton tomorrow morning, easing through the day.
Winds look good with a NW offshore, tending variable early afternoon ahead of weak sea breezes, that may just tend variable.
Come Wednesday only a small leftover 1-2ft of swell is expected with morning offshores, while Thursday will be poor as a trough moves in from the west bringing fresh to strong S/SE tending SE winds.
This weekend onwards (Apr 4 onwards)
We've got some fun SW groundswell energy on the cards for this weekend and into early next week, generated by a series of not overly strong but back to back polar fronts pushing east from under WA, through our swell window through the end of the week and into the weekend.
An initial inconsistent increase Saturday is due to 2ft across Clifton, easing back from 1-2ft Sunday, followed another top up to 2ft Monday morning. Some better size to 2ft+ is possible Tuesday but with what looks to be onshore winds. We'll have a closer look at this on Wednesday though.

When are these afternoon sea breezes going to end?
Probably another month or so Jason.
