Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 11th March)

Best Days: Thursday morning, Friday morning, Saturday morning, Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning

Recap

A better pulse of SW groundswell was seen yesterday to 2-3ft across Clifton with favourable offshore winds until mid-afternoon, when sea breezes kicked in.

Today the swell was back to a smaller 1-2ft but with offshore winds persisting all day into the evening.

This week and weekend (Mar 12 - 15)

We should see the swell hold around 1-2ft into tomorrow morning, but a new kick in W/SW groundswell is due through the afternoon, reaching a more consistent 2ft across Clifton before peaking Friday morning to 2ft+.

Conditions will be good again tomorrow morning with an offshore NW'ly, but a W/SW change is due into the afternoon. Friday looks good with NW winds again during the morning and SE sea breezes.

The swell will drop away into Saturday from 1-2ft across Clifton and winds will strengthen from the N/NW tending W/NW ahead of an approaching cold front and then late change.

Unfortunately an increase in swell attached to the polar front bringing this change has been downgraded with only a small pulse to 1-2ft possible Sunday afternoon but with onshore sea breezes.

Next Monday onwards (Mar 16 onwards)

We should see some fun pulses of SW groundswell into Tuesday and Wednesday next week from a couple of weak but close spaced polar fronts firing up over the weekend.

The swell is only due to build to 2ft through Tuesday afternoon, holding Wednesday around the same size before fading Thursday. Winds look favourable each morning and onshore into the afternoons. More on this Friday though.
