Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 11th February)

Best Days: Monday morning, Tuesday morning

Recap

Monday's swell dropped back to a smaller but cleaner 1-2ft yesterday morning, while today the surf was tiny but ideal for beginners.

This week and beyond (Feb 12 onwards)

A late kick in swell is due today to 1-2ft with a better increase in acute W/SW groundswell due tomorrow to a more consistent 2ft on the sets, but... a late onshore change today will unfortunately linger from the S/SW tomorrow morning before easing and tending SE through the day.

Friday will see the swell fade away under unfavourable and strengthening NE winds.

Into the weekend, a slight increase in inconsistent W/SW groundswell is due Saturday but with poor and strong NE tending E/NE winds. More exposed breaks are probably worth a look through the day.

Conditions will finally be favourable across Clifton Sunday with a N/NW breeze, but the swell will be tiny and to 1ft max.

A good pulse of W/SW groundswell is now due Monday next week, generated by a good mid-latitude low forming south-west of WA tomorrow, pushing slowly east through Friday and the weekend.

This low is expected to pass across us early Monday morning with a good W/SW groundswell due to build to 2-3ft through Monday afternoon.

Winds in general look to be from the W/NW to W/SW, creating bumpy conditions at the peak of the swell, with cleaner easing 2ft waves Tuesday on the backside of the swell.

Longer term there's nothing significant at all, so check back here Friday for confirmation on Monday/Tuesday's swell.
