Average outlook ahead
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 9th February)
Best Days: Tuesday morning
Recap
Friday's S'ly swell backed off through Saturday from a small clean 1-2ft, while Sunday was tiny and onshore. Today a new pulse of SW groundswell due across the South Arm came in as expected with 2-3ft sets and winds played nice early variable tending offshore breezes ahead of a strengthening SE'ly.
This week and beyond (Feb 10 onwards)
Today's pulse of SW groundswell should ease back into tomorrow but still be around 2ft through the morning under moderate to fresh N/NW tending NE winds.
A new long-range and very inconsistent W/SW groundswell is due Wednesday afternoon ahead of a secondary pulse Thursday but the source of each swell is either far away in our distant swell window or too far north to generate any major size. We're likely too see infrequent 1-2ft sets later Wednesday but with afternoon sea breezes and then more consistent 2ft sets Thursday but with an onshore SW tending S/SE breeze.
Into the end of the week and weekend the swell will fade away under poor NE winds.
The next decent swell looks to arrive through Tuesday evening/Wednesday next week from a slow moving but strong polar low, but we'll have a closer look at this on Wednesday.
