Solid and onshore tomorrow, cleaner and better Wednesday
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 10th November)
Best Days: Wednesday morning, Thursday morning, Sunday morning, Tuesday week morning
Recap
The weekend didn't offer much in the way of swell at all, and this morning the surf was still tiny, but a new W/SW swell should be kicking later today with the Cape Sorell buoy rising nicely.
This week (Nov 11 - 14)
There hasn't been much change to this week's outlook with a solid pulse of SW groundswell due tomorrow, but our better S/SE groundswell for Thursday has unfortunately been downgraded.
Firstly looking at tomorrow though, a vigorous polar front currently pushing up and into us is aiming a fetch of broad SW gales through our swell window.
A moderate sized SW groundswell will result, peaking tomorrow in the 3-4ft+ range, but winds will be terrible and onshore from the W/SW tending SW.
Wednesday as the swell eases looks better with a light N/NW'ly due before SE sea breezes kick in. The swell should be still in the 3ft range before easing steadily into the afternoon.
Thursday's S/SE swell has been downgraded with the fetch of S'ly gales on the tail of the frontal system to our south-southwest now expected to be not as strong or favourably aligned.
Still we should see fun waves continuing across Clifton to 2ft+ under N/NW tending variable winds.
Come Friday there isn't expected to be much size left and winds will give way from an early W/NW to the SW.
This weekend onwards (Nov 15 onwards)
Besides a small and weak increase in SW swell Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning there's not much on the cards for the weekend. This will be from a weak polar front passing under us, with 1-2ft sets due across Clifton. Sunday morning will be the pick with W/NW tending fresh W'ly winds.
A couple of stronger fronts pushing through our swell window over the weekend and under us Monday should produce some better W/SW swell for Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning to 2-3ft or so. Tuesday morning looks to be the pick with morning NW winds ahead of a shift to the W/SW through the day.
Longer term there's nothing too major on the cards, so make the most of Wednesday and Thursday.
