Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Friday 17th October)

Best Days: Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday morning, Friday

Recap

A short period of offshores was seen yesterday morning with a new swell to 2ft, but these swung onshore mid-morning writing off the the surf for the rest of the day.

Today a better SW groundswell has filled in with 3ft sets across Clifton with light offshores but fresh S/SE sea breezes have since kicked in.

This weekend and next week (Oct 18 - 24)

Today's swell should ease off into tomorrow from 2ft across Clifton under offshore N'ly winds. Sunday will be tiny and clean for a period before an onshore change pushes through.

This change will kick up a fresh increase in SW swell as a trailing fetch of strong to gale-force SW winds are directed up into us.

The size looks to be in the 2ft+ range but conditions will be poor with fresh W/SW tending SW winds in the wake of the change.

A secondary less favourably aligned but strong fetch of W'ly gales should produce another SW groundswell pulse for Tuesday to 2ft and winds will be better and offshore from the N'th tending NE.

The surf should then back away into Wednesday and Thursday morning, but another polar low/cold front crossing us through the day should produce a good SW swell for Friday.

This swell looks to a touch stronger than Monday's and come in at 2-3ft under light offshore N/NW winds. We'll review this Monday though. Have a great weekend!!
