Southern Tasmania Forecast (issued Monday 21st Jul)

Best Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, possibly Thursday arvo

Recap

A mix of swells came in at 2ft across Clifton Saturday morning under favourable winds.

Sunday started off a similar size but a strong new SW groundswell should of pulsed into the afternoon as winds tended variable. This swell held well into this morning with 2-3ft sets across Clifton under offshore winds which persisted right up until the late afternoon.

This week (Jul 21 - 25)

There's nothing too major on the cards for our region this week, but in saying this Clifton won't go flat.

Today's SW groundswell should ease back into tomorrow to 1-2ft. A smaller reinforcing SW groundswell is due on Wednesday but this is only expected to keep inconsistent 2ft sets hitting Clifton through the day before backing off into Thursday.

We may see a sneaky S/SW groundswell from a polar low forming late in our swell window tomorrow on the polar shelf.

This should arrive through Thursday and may offer inconsistent 1-2ft sets, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Winds will be great all week with morning offshores and generally variable breezes into the afternoons creating good conditions.

This weekend onwards (Jul 26 onwards)

The weekend will remain void of any major swell, but a couple of long-range and inconsistent W/SW groundswell should offer a touch more size through Monday and Tuesday.

These are expected to be generated by unfavourable mid-latitude frontal activity being deflected east-southeast from under WA. Size wise we're probably not looking at much more above 2ft but we'll review this Wednesday.
