This weekend and next week (Jun 2 - 8)
We've got a great weekend ahead for the South Coast, with a window of fun waves on the Mid.
Winds will be generally offshore and out of the N'th, variable into the afternoons, favouring the South Coast as a new long-period W/SW swell fills in tomorrow and eases from a more SW direction on Sunday.
This swell was generated the last two days by an very intense but small low dipping slowly south from under WA, aiming a fetch of severe-gale to storm-force W/SW winds through our swell windows.
We should see the surf building through the morning and peaking into the afternoon with 1-2ft waves on the Mid Coast and sets to 3-4ft off Middleton, smaller early, with easing 3ft sets down South on Sunday and 1ft to maybe 2ft on the Mid Coast, but most likely 1.5ft.
Moving into Monday and we'll see a temporary low point early ahead a good new W/SW groundswell building through the day.
This swell will be a touch less consistent than the weekend's swell, generated by a great elongated fetch of W/SW gales stretching between Heard Island and WA.
The Mid Coast should build to a good 2ft with the incoming tide under variable winds all day. The South Coast looks to be around 2ft+ off Middleton, kicking to 3ft on the sets into the afternoon and easing from 2-3ft Tuesday morning.
Easing 1-2ft waves are due Tuesday morning on the Mid Coast and a moderate to fresh N/NE wind is expected to ease and tend more NE through the afternoon.
Moving into Wednesday and Thursday, there's no new swell due as a large blocking high moves in from the west bringing strengthening northerly winds but no swell until a front and possible low bring an onshore change and building windswell Friday.
More on this Monday though, have a great weekend!
