Best Days: South Coast swell magnets early tomorrow, South Coast Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday mornings

Recap

Nothing to really surf on the Mid Coast with clean conditions each morning, while lighter winds were seen down South yesterday with a junky swell, a touch cleaner but smaller and weaker this morning with similar variable winds.

Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This week and weekend (Dec 7 - 10)

Tomorrow should be really nice and clean down South with a light NW breeze ahead of a strong S/SW change around midday as a surface trough moves in from the west.

Unfortunately there isn't due to be any size left, with tiny 1 to maybe 1.5ft sets off Middleton, a touch better at Waits and Parsons maybe to 2ft+.

This change will be linked to a weakening front moving in from the west, and with it we're due to see some new SW swell Friday.

A mix of windswell from tomorrow's change and the mid-period SW swell should come in around 3ft on the sets off Middleton, while the Mid Coast is expected to offer 1-1.5ft surf.

Winds are now looking a touch better for the South Coast, with an early W/NW'ly possible around Victor, if not W/SW, favouring protected breaks, swinging back to the SW through the morning. The Mid Coast will unfortunately be bumpy all day.

This swell will ease back temporarily into Saturday (as the Mid holds at 1-1.5ft) ahead of a late pulse of new S/SW swell which is expected to peak Sunday morning.

A strengthening front south of us tomorrow afternoon and evening should produce a fun sized S/SW swell that's expected to build back to 2-3ft across Middleton later Saturday, holding a similar size Sunday morning before fading through the day, smaller Monday. The Mid Coast looks to come in around 0.5-1ft max.

Winds will do a full 180 on the weekend, with a morning W/NW breeze Saturday, swinging onshore from the SW through the day, while Sunday should see a light E/NE'ly ahead of S/SE sea breezes.

Similar winds are likely Monday but with small leftover surf, while later in the day, another mid-period S/SW swell is due.

This reinforcing swell was expected to come off a strong tight polar low, but instead we're now only looking at a weak trailing front moving in from the west.

No major size is expected, with 2ft sets off Middleton, but as it eases Tuesday we're looking at great offshore N/NE winds. Longer term there's no new decent swell due until later next week, but check back Friday for more on this.
