South Australian Forecast (issued Friday 5th February)

Best Days: Saturday from mid-morning and before onshores kick back in

Recap

Good easing surf from 2ft across the Mid yesterday morning, while the South Coast continued to offer poor average conditions with a fresh onshore S/SE wind.

Today the swell is back to a tiny 0.5-1ft, a touch smaller than expected, with junky waves continuing down South.

This weekend and next week (Feb 6 - 12)

South Coast: Tomorrow morning is the only decent window of clean conditions across the South Coast for the next week, with persistent onshore breezes due to kick in from Sunday.

In saying this the early morning will be average as overnight SE winds are due to only ease and tend variable into the mid-morning, resulting in improving conditions from mid-morning, being best around then until about midday before onshore S/SE winds kick up again into the afternoon.

Middleton should ease from 2-3ft, with with 3-4ft sets at Waits and Parsons, smaller into the afternoon and fading through Sunday.

Saturday afternoon's onshores will be linked to a high pressure ridge developing in the Bight, and this will remain a near permanent feature through all of next week and possibly the following week.

As a result persistent S/SE winds are due across the South Coast producing junky small S/SE windswell, while some fun pulses of SW groundswell are due to be in the mix from Tuesday afternoon through Friday. This will be from a relatively weak but pro-longed succession of polar fronts moving through our swell window over the weekend and into next week.

Mid Coast: Tiny surf is due through the weekend and early next week, while the small SW groundswell pulses from Tuesday afternoon through Friday should provide inconsistent 1ft sets, ideal for beginners on the beaches.

Longer term, as touched on above, persistent S/SE winds are due into next weekend and beyond across the region, with some possible better SW groundswell, but we'll have another look at this Monday. Have a great weekend!
