Mid Coast tomorrow, South Coast Wednesday morning
South Australian Forecast (issued Monday 10th November)
Best Days: Tomorrow Mid, Wednesday morning down South, Thursday morning for keen surfers down South, late on the Mid, Friday Mid
Recap
The South Coast was poor all weekend with onshore winds and small amounts of swell, while the Mid offered fun lumpy 2ft waves Saturday and cleaner less consistent 1-2ft surf through Sunday.
A reinforcing W/SW swell has filled in today offering good 1-2ft waves across the Mid again, while the South Coast is average and still onshore with 2-3ft of swell across the Middleton stretch.
This week (Nov 11 – 14)
A decent pulse of S/SW groundswell is due across the South Coast tomorrow, generated by a strong frontal system currently to our south, projecting a fetch of SW gales towards Victoria and Tassie.
This swell should fill in tomorrow and peak during the morning to 3-4ft across the Middleton stretch and 3-5ft at Waits but winds will remain average and fresh from the East, possibly tending E/NE for a period through the morning, leaving only a few decent options.
The Mid Coast should still offer 1-2ft sets through the morning before easing into the afternoon.
Wednesday will be the day to head South as the S/SW swell eases and winds swing more offshore from the N/NE with dropping 3ft sets at Middleton and 4ft waves out at Waits and Parsons. SE sea breezes will develop through the day, so the morning is the go.
Thursday is looking a little dicey with small leftovers waves under light offshore winds that will give way to an onshore change at some stage through the day.
A good new W/SW groundswell is due across the Mid Coast later Thursday and more so Friday, but it will be fairly inconsistent and met with cross-onshore winds from the S'th.
This swell will originate from a strong but unfavourably tracking low from the west of WA down towards the polar shelf.
A fetch of severe-gale W/SW winds will be aimed towards us before the system weakens south of WA and aims a less than favourable fetch of S/SW winds towards the Bight.
A long-range W/SW groundswell will result, peaking Friday morning across the Mid and into the afternoon down South. We should see inconsistent 1-2ft sets again on the Mid, while the South Coast should offer 2-3ft waves along the Middleton stretch with 4ft+ sets at Waits and Parsons.
Winds will be terrible in any case and fresh from the S/SW down South.
This weekend onwards (Nov 15 onwards)
Friday's swell should back off through Saturday but should still be around 1-2ft across the Mid early, while the South Coast will be poor with strong onshore winds as a strengthening trough pushes across us.
Some new S/SW swell is due across the South Coast through the day, easing off into Sunday but besides a possibly early W/NW'ly down South, conditions won't be too flash.
Longer term we should continue to receive fun pulses of SW swell through next week with NE to SE winds, but more on this Wednesday.
