Average period, with some better swell due late next week
Nias, Mentawai, South Sumatra forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Thursday 23rd Jul)
Best Days: Most days over the coming period
This week and next week (Jul 24 – 31)
This morning should of started really slow, but a new S'ly swell should be building across exposed breaks, with a peak due tomorrow to an inconsistent 4-6ft. A slow drop is then due into Saturday and further Sunday.
Winds should become lighter from the S/SE over the coming days before picking up again through next week from the S/SE-SE.
Next week will continue to be rather average with a couple of inconsistent pulses of S'ly and S/SW groundswell Monday morning and Wednesday/Thursday respectively but to the 4-5ft range across swell magnets.
Later in the week we're now looking at some better S/SW groundswell from a strong and multi-staged polar frontal progression firing up south-east of South Africa over the weekend.
This should produce an inconsistent but good S/SW groundswell for Friday coming in at an infrequent 6ft+ across exposed breaks, with a couple of smaller reinforcing pulses through the following weekend, slowing the easing trend. We'll have a closer look at this Tuesday though.

Indian Ocean gone way off the boil over the last few weeks and nothing of significance over the coming fortnight either. What's doing? Southey your blocking highs coming to fruition?
Hasn't been the best season so far besides that big swell event. Should be pumping with back to back swell this time off year.
