Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Steve Shearer (issued Fri May 3rd)

Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)

  • Strong S swell pulses Sat, easing Sun with S-SE winds slowly easing
  • Surf becoming small into next week with light winds
  • Small S swell pulse next Fri
  • Not much on the radar

Recap

Small S swell to 2ft yesterday with fresh SW winds. Today has built in size to 2-3ft at S exposed breaks but S/SW winds are not favourable for surface conditions.

This weekend and next week (May3- May10)

Monster high pressure has barely budged since Wed, maintaining a S-SE flow from Tasmania right up the Eastern Seaboard. No great change to the weekend f/cast. The high becomes even more slow moving as it approaches Tasmania so we’re looking at S-SE flow over the weekend, with S swell peaking Sat in the 3ft range at S fancy beaches although wind affected.

Still problematic SE winds Sun and easing swells to 2ft or less during the day.

Into next week and light winds Mon and Tues as high pressure approaches the state. Not much swell on tap with small S swell leftovers to 1-2ft Mon, easing right back iotnoi Tues.

High pressure brings light winds and tiny surf

No major swell sources on tap next week and with high pressure near the the state we’ll see light winds and small/tiny surf right through until Thurs.

A weak front in the Tasman later Thurs into Fri will bring a small surge in S swell Fri with S-SE winds.

Not much on the radar after that so check back Mon for the latest.

Seeya then and have a great weekend!
