Recap
No great size over the weekend, just a small level of NE windswell Sat morning and some very inconsistent 1-2ft sets from the SE. Surf dropped right back Sun and has remained tiny into today.
This week and next week (May2 - May 12)
High pressure is sitting over the interior of Central NSW, leading to wonderful, settled conditions, with a constant NW to W flow over the state, with a trade flow in the South Pacific supplying a small inconsistent pulse of fun E/NE swell Wed.
E/NE tradewind swell will trickle up in height through tomorrow with a few 2ft sets on offer through the a’noon and clean conditions under a NW flow.
Wed will be the peak of this swell and there’ll be some bigger, albeit inconsistent 2-3ft sets through the day, clean under W to NW conditions.
Surf from this source then slowly eases back through the rest of the week, padding out Thurs with 2ft sets before easing back into the marginal range Fri- under 2ft. Conditions should stay great with constant W’ly winds as a trough approaches from the W.
Into the weekend and a multi-centred low forms just E or NE of the state with a freshening WSW to SW flow through Sat (see below). Sat will start out small with a spike in new S swell through the a’noon as the low winds up.
This should see a solid pulse of local S swell Sun with winds freshening as gales linger offshore. Expect fresh and gusty SW to S winds Sun and size in the 5-6ft range, easing during the day.
This size rapidly drops off through Mon as the low moves away with a lingering S’ly flow.
Not much on offer through mid next week with a small increase in E swell likely by the end of next week as a large high moves E and the Tasman Sea becomes dominated by a strong E’ly pattern.
Check back Wed for the latest.
