Small north-east swells
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 25th December)
Best Days: Saturday for keen surfers, cleanest late at the magnets, Wednesday morning north-east swell magnets
Recap
Fading S'ly swell through yesterday though still coming in at 2-3ft on the south swell magnets in the morning, back to the tiny stuff today.
This week and next (Dec 26 – Jan 2)
The coming couple of days look void of swell, and a N/NE windswell for the weekend is looking a bit average now as well.
We'll see a weak fetch of disjointed N/NE winds developing in our swell window Friday evening through Saturday, producing a small N/NE windswell that only looks to reach 2ft or so across north-east swell magnets.
Winds are due to swing from a morning N-N/NW breeze back to the N/NE ahead of a late S'ly change, so there should be options across the coast all day.
Sunday looks smaller and back to 1-2ft with variable winds in the morning ahead of NE sea breezes.
Looking at the rest of next week and a short burst of broader N/NE winds in our swell window Monday evening and early Tuesday should produce another small N/NE swell for Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning to 2ft or so. It'll have a bit more power and morning W'ly winds should give into afternoon sea breezes.
Following this some very inconsistent and distant E/NE trade-swell from the Coral Sea looks to prevent the coast from going flat, but also it'll only be 1-2ft or so and hardly worth chasing. More on this Friday. Merry Christmas!
