Windy N/NE swell for the weekend
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 14th August)
Best Days: Early Thursday south swell magnets, Sunday afternoon
Recap
I hope you've made the most of the last few days of waves, as the outlook for the coming period isn't anywhere near as active.
Yesterday a mix of easing E/SE swell and building S groundswell came in at 3-4ft out of the south, dropping back this morning from 2-3ft at south magnets.
Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl
This week and weekend (Aug 15 – 18)
Our current S'ly swell will ease back through this afternoon and further tomorrow with only a tiny leftover swell to 1-2ft across the south magnets.
From here a shallow S'ly change later Friday will kick up a weak and small to tiny S'ly windswell later in the day, fading Saturday.
A slightly better N/NE windswell is still on the cards for Sunday, produced by a strengthening fetch of N/NE winds developing off our coast Saturday evening and early Sunday, moving offshore with a strong change into the afternoon.
We should see 3ft sets across north-east swell magnets through the morning, easing later in the day with less than ideal and strong N'ly winds, shifting NW later in the day.
A better W'ly change is expected on Monday but with no leftover size, while a short burst of strong E/SE winds out of New Zealand's Cook Strait might generate a small 2ft of easterly swell come Tuesday. More on this Friday.
