This week and weekend (Jul 9 - 14)
We're expected to see the E/NE swell continuing to drop tomorrow from an infrequent 1ft to maybe 2ft, but a new S'ly groundswell should be seen across the south swell magnets.
This was generated by a strengthening polar front on the weekend, late in our swell window.
We should see a small 2ft+ wave across the south magnets tomorrow, fading from 1-2ft on Wednesday along with favourable W/NW tending NW winds tomorrow and NW tending stronger N/NW winds Wednesday.
Into Thursday a small and inconsistent S/SE groundswell signal may be seen to 2ft across the magnets, generated by the storm linked to tomorrow's swell and winds will remain favourable though gusty out of the W/NW.
Following this there's nothing significant on the cards until early next week. A front pushing up and past us Saturday afternoon may produce a small S'ly windswell for Sunday morning, but of greater importance is a vigorous polar low that's forecast to project from under the state up and under us on the weekend.
A fetch of weakening SW gales will be generated to our south-east, moving up past us Monday, and a new S'ly groundswell should fill in Monday. Size is a little tricky to nailed down at the moment but we'll hopefully see 3-5ft sets at south magnets, with a possible follow up swell Tuesday/Wednesday. More on this in the next update though.
