Weak S'ly swells and not the best winds
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 17th June)
Best Days: No great days, for the really desperate try Wednesday morning
Recap
Flat Saturday but a fun pulse of S'ly groundswell was seen yesterday across the regional south swell magnets, fading into today.
Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl
This week and weekend (Jun 18 - 23)
The coming period isn't too flash with only a couple of weak S'ly swells on the cards from weak fronts pushing up past our coast.
The strongest is due Wednesday with a fetch of strong S/SW winds due to be projected up past us Tuesday evening, producing a small and weak 2-3ft of S'ly swell for the morning, fading through the day.
Winds won't be great either, mostly out of the SW and tending S/SW as the swell eases.
A secondary similar strength front will project up past us Thursday evening and early Friday generating a similar 2ft+ of S'ly swell for Friday but with average S/SW winds. The swell may linger into Saturday but conditions will remain poor with a S'ly wind.
Unfortunately there's nothing of real significance following this until early next week when we may see a good S'ly groundswell forming from a significant polar frontal progression firing up south of us. We'll have a closer look at this on Wednesday though.
Comments
BW calling much more west wind in its forecast. True or me being more optimistic?
This for Wednesday? Yeah the structure of the front has changed and now it looks to be a stronger low.
Clean early but tiny to flat and then a larger S'ly swell for the aftenoon but with S/SW winds.
yeah wednesday, thursday and friday. Thanks for the update
Yeah Thursday looking fun now, Friday OK with a bit more SE to the swell. Update on Wednesday will have the deets.
