Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This weekend and next week (May 25 – 31)

As touched on the last couple of updates we'll see flat surf continuing on the coast until a strong node of the Long Wave Trough forming across the south-east of the country next week pushes east and across the Tasman Sea, opening up our southern swell window to strong frontal activity.

This doesn't look to occur until Thursday with a strong to gale-force fetch of S/SW winds expected to push right off our coast, kicking up a large but acute S'ly groundswell for Thursday with strong S/SW tending SW winds. The models are still moving around regarding the timing and size of this swell, but behind it, secondary frontal systems look to produce fun levels of reinforcing S'ly swell Friday and Saturday.

Check back here Monday for a clearer idea on the timing and sizes of the swells. Have a great weekend!
