This week and weekend (May 14 - 19)
Any S'ly swell seen later yesterday and this morning will be gone by tomorrow and Wednesday looks to remain tiny to flat.
Thursday should reveal a new S'ly groundswell, produced by a strengthening polar frontal system moving in under the state tomorrow afternoon and evening.
A fetch of gale to severe-gale W/SW winds are expected to be generated in our southern swell window, with the swell arriving overnight Wednesday and peaking Thursday morning to 2-3ft across south swell magnets, tiny elsewhere.
Winds will be good and offshore from the W/NW, giving into N/NE sea breezes, while Friday will be clean again but the swell all but gone.
A deepening surface trough mentioned in last week's notes isn't expected to occur any more with a broad and stalling mid-latitude low now due to form in the Bight.
This will result in no significant swell into the weekend. We may see a new S'ly groundswell early next week, but more on this Wednesday.
