Best Days: Thursday

Recap

Not much in the way of S/SE groundswell reported across our East Coast over the weekend though the South Arm came in at 2-3ft Sunday morning and magnets on the mainland 3-4ft, so while inconsistent south swell magnets should of seen easy 3ft sets. Today the swell has backed right away.

This week and weekend (Jan 29 – Feb 3)

Looking at the week ahead and our possible N/NE windswell event for later week is looking a bit suss now with a trough moving in from the west set to be positioned a little too far offshore to generate much size at all for us.

We'll see a strong fetch of N/NE winds develop in our swell window Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning, but sitting some 250km too east away from our coast.

This will impact the expected size, with a small 2ft wave likely through the day Thursday, fading from 1-1.5ft on Friday. Winds will be great Thursday as the trough sits to the east resulting in SW breezes, likely S'ly into the afternoon.

Friday will also see a morning SW breeze, but tiny waves.

Into the weekend we may see another small weak N/NE windswell event, but the size looks limited to 2ft or so and with N'ly winds. More on this Wednesday.
