Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 9th August)

Best Days: Thursday, early Friday, Monday

Recap

Monday's fun E/SE swell faded into yesterday leaving tiny waves on the coast. Today the surf remained tiny but we've got some fun SE swell to come over the next two days.

This week and weekend (Aug 10 - 13)

Tomorrow's SE swell has been downgraded a little, with the fetch of E/SE winds south-west of New Zealand, coming in a little weaker than forecast by the models Monday.

Still a good fetch has been aimed towards us and we should see the swell filling in tomorrow, building to 2-3ft during the day, easing back from 2ft max Friday morning.

Winds will remain from the N/NW all of tomorrow with W/NW winds Friday.

Come the weekend there's no major surf due Saturday with tiny clean waves, while a weak S'ly change moving up past us Sunday may generate an onshore 1-2ft wave into the afternoon.

Of greater importance is a good fetch of strong S/SE winds being projected up from the polar shelf through our southern swell window Friday evening and Saturday.

A good sized S/SE swell should be produced, peaking Monday to a good 3ft across south facing beaches with a morning N/NW breeze. A W'ly change is due through the day, so the morning will be the best window to hit south magnets.

Beyond this there's nothing major on the cards so make the most of tomorrow's and Monday's swells.
