Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 3rd February)

Best Days: Later Saturday, Sunday, later Thursday

Recap

No surf with tiny conditions continuing.

This weekend and next week (Feb 3 - 10)

Well, satellite images are in and we're looking at a good pulse of S/SE groundswell over the weekend, fading through early next week.

Satellite observations have picked up a great but small fetch of severe-gale to storm-force SE winds on the polar shelf, persisting through until this morning.

We should see a good pulse of S/SE groundswell from this source, kicking later tomorrow to 2ft, and peaking Sunday morning in the 3ft range.

Conditions are looking great with offshore winds all weekend, while a S/SE change is due Monday, ruining the easing swell.

This change isn't expected to kick up an major swell, but a strong high moving into the Tasman after it should be squeezed by a strong low incoming from the west late week.

We'll see a strengthening NE fetch down the coast producing some fun N/NE windswell for Thursday, easing Friday. To what size, we'll have to look at closer Monday. Have a great weekend!
