Tuesday the pick of the period
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 26th August)
Best Days: Tuesday south facing breaks, Wednesday morning similar
Recap
Small levels of S/SE swell the last couple of days to 1-2ft at magnets with variable winds yesterday and better offshores today.
This weekend and next week (Aug 27 – Sep 2)
The small S/SE swell seen the past couple of days will really back off over the weekend with tiny fading 1ft sets, even small into Sunday.
Our strong pulse of S'ly groundswell for early next week has been shifted to Tuesday.
Over the weekend a vigorous polar front is expected to fire up along the polar shelf, producing a fetch of severe-gale to storm-force winds, but instead of projecting towards the Tasman Sea, it will projecting more towards New Zealand's South Island shaving off a touch of size.
We should still see solid sets to 3-4ft+ across south swell magnets on Tuesday, easing late with not much left for Wednesday over 2ft.
Conditions will be best at south magnets with a N/NW tending N/NE breeze, possibly back to the N/NW again late.
A tiny north-east windswell will be generated by these winds for Wednesday but not above 1-2ft and with N/NW tending W/NW winds.
Longer term there's a couple of possible swell sources, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
