Fun few days of surf coming up
Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 3rd August)
Best Days: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday morning
Recap
A good easing S/SE swell to 3-4ft yesterday morning but with less than ideal S/SW to S/SE winds.
A new E/SE groundswell kicked later in the day, peaking this morning to 3-5ft with better offshore tending variable winds.
This weekend and next week (Aug 6 - 12)
This morning's E/SE groundswell is expected to ease this afternoon and further from 3ft tomorrow morning, but a new SE groundswell will take it's place from midday.
The source of this groundswell is a strong polar front pushing up towards New Zealand's South Island and into the Tasman Sea today.
A good kick back to 3-4ft is expected, dropping back from 3ft Sunday morning. The easing trend will be softened through the afternoon and Monday as a fetch of strong SE winds linger off the South Island this evening and tomorrow morning.
Monday morning should continue to see 2-3ft sets, and into the afternoon a new E'ly groundswell pulse is due. The source of this will be a fetch of Ely gales exiting Cook Strait Saturday and we should see 2-3ft waves persisting, easing back from 2ft Tuesday morning.
Now, conditions are looking great over the weekend with offshore tending variable winds, and then Monday will see W/NW tending N/NW winds.
A strengthening N'ly linked to an approaching front on Tuesday may kick up a weak N'ly windswell, fading rapidly Wednesday as the changes moves through.
Nothing significant is due from then on, therefore make the most of the coming days of surf! Have a great weekend.
