Flukey south swells, biggest but onshore late Friday
Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 4th March)
Best Days: Later Thursday south swell magnets, early Saturday south swell magnets
Recap
Tiny waves continued across the coast, but there's some better S'ly swell on the way.
This week and weekend (Mar 5 – 8)
While our increase in S'ly swell Friday is still on track, before this we should now see a small pulse through the late afternoon tomorrow. This will be produced as a front pushing across us projects a fetch of SW gales through our southern swell window tomorrow morning, with an increase in acute S'ly swell due across the northern half of the coast due into the afternoon.
South swell magnets should see 2-3ft sets and winds will swing from a morning W/SW'ly around to the W/NW on dark.
A secondary front with a slightly better projection north is due through Friday, producing another pulse of S'ly swell for Friday afternoon to a better 3-4ft across south swell magnets by the late afternoon/evening.
Unfortunately winds Friday arvo are now looking poor with a gusty W/SW tending S/SE breeze due across the coast, creating poor conditions.
Saturday morning looks clean, but the swell will be fading quickly from 2ft or so across south swell magnets, so the early will be the go under W/NW breezes.
For the rest of the period there's nothing too significant on the cards as the storm track moves to a more zonal pattern into next week.
