Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Wed Jan 8th)

This week and next week (Jan 8-Jan17)

Central QLD: Surf becoming tiny/flat

Flat spell ahead.

Still the odd, tiny wave about

A small trough of low pressure has stalled off Seal Rocks with a SE infeed south of the trough expected to ease over the next 24 hrs and a light/variable flow north of the trough. Apart from this short-range feature pressure gradients in the Tasman and Coral Seas remain very weak with the current tradewind band in the process of easing and retracting northwards. Easing swells through the rest of the week with not much on the radar.

We should see just rideable surf tomorrow and Fri, becoming tiny/flat over the weekend and into next week.

Coral Sea looking dead next week

Not much on the horizon with weak pressure gradients and no tradewinds in the Coral Sea next week a flat spell is expected.

Check back Fri for the latest.
