Tiny/flat surf continues over the weekend, surf pattern next week
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Wed Oct 9th)
This weekend and next week (Oct9-Oct18)
Central QLD: Tiny/flat surf continues over the weekend, surf pattern next week
Nothing at the moment.
Nothing yet, next week looks better
High pressure is moving NE of Tasmania into the Tasman Sea, weakening and becoming mobile as it does so. We’ll cold fronts sweep into the Tasman later this week and into the weekend, all of which maintains weak winds in the Coral Sea and tiny/flat surf for CQ.
There is some hope ahead as a new high moves into the Tasman Mon, and builds a ridge up the QLD coast. We should see surf build on Tues as SE winds increase, then maintain a fun sized surf as tradewinds develop through the Coral Sea.
Tradewinds in Coral Sea next week generate some small, fun surf
We finetune this on Fri as we get closer to the event but at this stage it’s looking like some small fun waves for most of next week.
