Tiny/flat surf continues possible surf pattern next week
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (updated on Mon Oct 7th)
This weekend and next week (Oct7-Oct18)
Central QLD: Tiny/flat surf continues possible surf pattern next week
Weak high pressure in the sub-tropics is drifting eastwards with weak winds in the Coral Sea and tiny/flat surf for CQ.
We’ll see a series of fronts push into the Tasman, with no surf potential for CQ.
Next week looks more promising however.
A stronger high moves through the Bight over the weekend and looks to set-up a SE surge possibly as early as Mon. There is some model divergence leading to low confidence but all major models are suggesting SE winds building through the Coral Sea next week.
That should see surf developing later Mon into Tues and lasting a couple of days.
Check back Wed for the latest.
